SKIES makes it easier for students to respond with Google, and also makes it easier for teachers to MONITOR Google work! SKIES will automatically give each student their own copy, so you DON’T have to worry about permissions. SKIES will also give you notifications, and let you see ALL of their work in one place. And you can still take advantage of SKIES' fast grading features!
Here are the steps on how to allow students to work on a Google slide manipulative:
-
Create a simple text card with instructions, for example, “Work on this”.
-
Click the box beside Responses.
-
Then click Google Template.
-
If you have an existing document that you want them to work on, click An existing Doc/Sheet/Slide; or if you want to create the manipulative from scratch on SKIES, click A new Google slide.
-
SKIES will open another tab with your existing slide if you have imported it from your Drive; or will open a blank slide if you want to add your new template. NOTE: Since the document is opened in another tab, make sure to allow pop-up in your browser.
-
A preview of the Google slide will appear on the Teacher Control Panel. Click CONTINUE at the bottom of the card to hide it.
-
Students will see a Google Slide icon (instead of the big blue + button).
-
SKIES automatically creates 1 copy of the file for each student, when they respond.
