If you do phonics with your students, you can create pocket charts on SKIES. Pocket charts let students drag and arrange letters to form words, helping them improve spelling and literacy.
Here's how:
- Click Generator below the lesson title; or click the +Make new card button, then click Generator.
- Click Reading and go down to Pocket Chart.
- Type or paste list of words into the List of words field.
- You can group letters together, like if you have blends or digraphs, or group of vowels.
- List down group of vowels below Grouped vowels, separated by spaces (e.g. oo ea).
- List down group of consonants below Grouped consonants, separated by spaces (e.g. br cl th).
- Click Make Cards.
How students use the pocket charts:
- They can play the audio to listen to the word.
- Click the + button to drag in the letters to make the word.
- Click Done on the upper right to save the card.
