SKIES makes it easier for students to respond with Google, and also makes it easier for teachers to MONITOR Google work! SKIES will automatically give each student their own copy, so you DON’T have to worry about permissions. SKIES will also give you notifications, and let you see ALL of their work in one place. And you can still take advantage of SKIES' fast grading features!
Here are the steps on how to allow students to respond with a new Google Doc:
-
Create a simple text card with instructions. For example, “Use the Google Doc and make an essay.”
-
Click the Responses checkbox.
-
Click Google Template.
-
Choose the option: a new Google doc
-
SKIES will try to open a blank Google doc in another tab. If you add anything to this document, it will be added to the template and appear on the students document. Through SKIES, you can also add details to the template document later, by clicking on the EDIT button in the middle of the card. NOTE: Since the document is opened in another tab, make sure to allow pop-up in your browser.
-
A preview of the Google doc will appear on the Teacher Control Panel. Click CONTINUE at the bottom of the card to hide it.
-
Students will see a Google Doc icon (instead of the big blue + button).
-
SKIES automatically creates 1 copy of the file for each student, when they respond.
